DIY- Quarantine Style

As mentioned in my previous post http://www.littlesliceofimperfection.com/?p=1766 to keep from spending unnecessary money right now, we are only working on projects that we already have the supplies for, or improvising entirely. Our main goal is to get the exterior of the house painted, which needs to be done before we can build the deck anyway.

This was taken two years ago. We are going to paint the whole house (including brick) an off-white, cream color. We’ve had a new roof and bronze gutters installed since then picture was taken.
I couldn’t wait any longer to see the color that we chose so on Quarantine Day 2 I started painting the wood siding on the face of the house.

Don’t forget that you can get most of the supplies you need to work on a paint project from Amazon, delivered right to your door.

These are the items I’m using:

Paintbrush: https://amzn.to/2yCjTIn

Paint Trays: https://amzn.to/3aVnK1F

Paint Cup (a life saver!): https://amzn.to/3aVnK1F

Paint Roller Frame: https://amzn.to/34je8v8

Paint Rollers (5 pack): https://amzn.to/2RkteuW

Amazon does have primer and some paint colors ready to ship but they don’t have a huge selection. However, I believe Home Depot has a deal where you can call ahead and have them mix a color for you so that you can just run in and pick it up.

This is the color that it is going to be! I love it. It is a perfect cream color, not yellow and not grey.

The above picture also shows the cedar planks that Brian added to the ceiling of the front porch and the new post he installed recently. Brian wants to paint it the same bronze as the front porch floor but I want to stain it to match the wooden shutters we plan to make. We’ll see who wins.

This is the color we chose: Misty Cove. It’s a paint by Behr specifically for masonry, stucco, and brick but can be used on wood siding too.

It’s not much yet, but it’s a start. I think this is going to completely change the look and feel of our house and I am so excited to see it! Stay tuned for more updated pictures for this and the rest of our projects!

What types of cheap/ free things are you working on while quarantined?
