Blueberry Pickin’

At about week 5 of quarantine, we were done with being at home. I needed to get these kids out of the house. I wanted to find something where they could get their energy out but still keep their social distance from anyone else. It just so happens that Aiden has been going on “virtual field trips” to farms in one of his classes so when I heard about the Bly By U Blueberry Farm, I was in! Plus, it was free to go, you just have to pay for the blueberries you pick. They provide a bucket for everyone and there are so many bushes that it is super easy to keep your distance from others.

And this one was eating them faster than he could put them in his bucket.

We had to take a break from blueberry picking to check out the petting zoo. Once the kids found out there were animals, they were begging to see them.

And now we need goats. The little ones were so cute!
They even have alpacas!

We met Wendy, the owner of Blu By U Blueberry Farm. She is a nurse that works full time in the hospital, and his super sweet. Her and her husband, Tom, who works in software development, have dreamed about this farm for quite a while. They have big plans for the farm in the coming seasons, including strawberries to pick. In addition to the petting zoo, they currently have a huge covered picnic area, a large sandbox for the kids, a country store with homemade honey and soap, and a butterfly house but there’s a lot more in the works. As a matter of fact, they’ve opened their Baits and Weights tackle shop since our visit. In order to ensure social distancing, a reservation is required. You can check out the farm and make a reservation on their website http://www.blubyujax.com/

We had breakfast for dinner that night to use up some of the blueberries. Pancakes, anyone?!

Make sure to check out the website to make a reservation for your visit!
